This weeks little project is making a single impression mould tool to injection mould my universal (Acetal Plastic) bushes that I will use for various applications such as brake pedal pivots and gear stick bush on 2rike that I had previously turned up out of Acetal rod I must admit this is more the day job for me, The tool could be made by any one with a lathe its not rocket science. its a simple open and shut design with a central mandrel to be knocked out to get the bush out. It is moulded on a little pneumatic bench moulding machine that we use at work for short runs of components where you only need a few hundred or so. When you are making a mould tool the cavity size has to be slightly bigger ( 020" per inch in the case of Acetal) to account for the plastic shrinkage when it cools down in the mould. So it is best to leave the mandrel for example a few tho big then mould some parts and check the size when they are cold and then adjust the size of the mandrel on the lathe to suite if needs be If you would like to see a video of the bush being injection moulded and removed from the tool take a look at my instagram page www.instagram.com/2rike/?hl=en

I have finally finished all the suspension parts for the next 2rikes. The last picture shows the suspension and upright as an assembly with the wishbones attached to the inner turret that is welded in to the 2rike chassis /frame

Number 2 chassis, out in the Autumn sunshine while I tidy up the workshop! That one's mine? There is chassis No3 and No4 are following close behind all cut up and ready to weld together!!! It would be nice to find homes for at least one of them in the USA the capital of Reverse Trikes!

The 2rike R1 power plant ready to slot in the back of the 2rike for a trial fit I am pleased to say that the chassis jig I have made for the 2rike chassis has worked out spot on and the bike fits like a glove in the back of the 2rike frame chassis.

It pays to be precise especially if you're welding it. Good job with the Jig!

This is how I fix the bike in to the back of the 2rike with a headstock adaptor which bolts through the roll bars section of the frame / chassis it is one of a six point location system that is fully adjustable so you can track the bike up true to the frame/chassis. One of the main advantages of this design is that I can use different adaptors to accommodate different makes and types of motorbikes

I have been fortunate enough to have another great feature in the latest edition of the "Trike" magazine here in the UK Incidentally the article was written by Gaz who has a build thread on here "Gaz's Tempest RT" after a nice run out in the dales to our local biker cafe one evening earlier this summer.
