I asked this in my newbie intro. It may have been covered here in this forum long ago, but I haven't been trough all the posts...if so, someone ell me where to look please...
Does anyone know of 3 wheeler with a complete bike that can be locked into a front 2 wheel cabin?
1)I'm no where near the fabrication and mechanical wizards I've seen here on this site. Simplicity is what I'm after, (but this idea may actually be to complex.) 2) I thought it'd be nice to have the bike NOT be a donor, but usable on it's own. Bike in summer-BEC in winter... 3) There has to be some major safety issues as the link up would lessen the structural soundness and stability. It'd really suck to have your nice bike to detach at 60+mph... as well as yourself! 4) I'm no further than the idea of a wheel chock and some type handlebar lock in with pulleys and levers to control throttle, gears and maybe brakes.. Point me to some info, websites, sage wisdom or point me to the door of the looney bin...thanx

Don't tempt us bobworld...LOL...just kidding. On a serious note...though your ideal is quite intriguing, I have thought of your design and do see many complicated design issues, all of which you had already mentioned...I do like how you think though...totally out side the box...it's ideals like yours that gets conversation going to actually prove it may be doable...maybe someone else will tune in with more on the ideal. I can't say I've seen it done but I can see the intrigue behind it. My question would be what kind of problems will you encounter when you try to registering it?

No need to reregister a motorcycle that is still a motorcycle and can be unbolted from the cabin,,, Just like the training wheel outrigger kits for bikes, they are considered bolt on assories... Hasnt this concept been done many times before?.. like the Trimagnum and such?... TROY

Yes, bolting on an existing motorcycle (less the front wheel) has been done many times, but I believe he wanted to keep everything in tact so that he could literally "unplug" the motorcycle and drive away on two wheels. The trimagnum's of the world are more of a permanent solution as the controls, harness, instrumentation, and in some cases the frame are all modified for the purpose of being a trike.
In terms of registration you could be right, however the outriggers do not change the function of the motorcycle, a bolt on frame which alters the seating position, steering, suspension, etc. may be viewed as a custom vehicle. You'd have to check with your state.
