I have been looking for a trike design that is lighter than the plans that I have (xzilarator). I ran across the sportcycle which is a derivative of the indycycle. There are references to the plan for sale by emailing 'sales@sportcycle.info'. I emailed, but have yet to receive a reply.
Does anyone know if these plans are still available? I just don't want to get my hopes up waiting and trying to find out if someone out there has beat this bush already.

In 2014 I tried to research the Sportcycle. It seems James Musser has not done any updates in years. Even the Indy-Cycle has not had any updated since 2009.
Just for info, James Musser was an engineer at Chevrolet during the mid 50's thru the mid 60's. He may be retired from the trades.

Thanks for the update on the sport cycle. Actually, on the Indycycle, I just purchased those plans from the designer Jamieson DuRette. He was very good about answering my questions and even gave me an explanation of the differences of the sportcycle and the indycycle. His plans are $75 and are at version update 3.1. You can contact him via the indycyce website at www.indycycle.net/main.htm. I was looking at the sportcycle only due to he frame design looked easier to fabricate than the indycycle. The indycycle seems to be a better around design. The fact that you can email and talk to the designer is a real plus too! That said, I am still interested in the simple square tube design of the sportcycle just because I have used it extensively in building Atomic Zombie recumbent trike bikes. Here is the explanation given by Jamieson (I hope he is okay with me posting?): The name, "IndyCycle" is trademarked and wholly owned by me, Jamieson G. DuRette. In 2001, a vehicle designer named Jim Musser marketed a vehicle that he was calling an "IndyCycle", even though I had been using the term for several years. He contacted me and recognized my authorship of the term (the recording can be accessed from my site). At that time he was trying to sell kits (and not plans, like mine), and was going through the Trademark process. He was unable to secure the trademark (I applied for it and received it in 2003), so he changed the name of his design to SportCycle. He stopped selling kits a few years later, changed to selling plans, and now no longer does that, as far as I know.. My design is the original IndyCycle. I have sold over 150 copies of the plans to customers in eight countries. Hope this helps. Jamieson G. DuRette

Rv3, keep us informed on the progress. The main reason to use round stock is you can get away with a slightly thinner wall for the same tensional strength. And 40 feet of round will be a few pounds lighter than square stock. I will be doing square tubing when I do my kit, someday.
