I've been researching RT's for a few years now . I have decided this is the way to go and need advice. I own a 2001 Yamaha 1600 Road Star. My dream is to build an RT with the motor forward of the seating, behind the front axle, and front wheel drive. I would also prefer all motorcycle wheels and tires with a leaning vehicle for a more bike feel control. Oh yeah ! side by side seating is the only way I will go. Lets hear what all these creative minds have to say ?

Cool...but side by side seating and leaners don't play well together. Body too wide to get the lean angles necessary to make turns without dragging body parts. The motorcycle engine and front wheel drive is interesting...some good engineering and a transfer case of some type ought to do the trick.
Please keep us posted.

Hoping for a lot more input on this build dream. Right now it's simply a lot of imagination based on desire. What I need most is tech. input. I know the 30% lean angle is difficult with side by side seating but, so was internal combustion engine development. Where are the brainiacs ? I believe the only tilt necessary is in the front wheels ?

If you yourself are not a "brainiac" then you would best have one working beside you with lots of resources to build a leaning trike. Not likely some one can walk you through it at a distance. I'm not aware of anyone at this forum who has attempted such an ambitious build. Don't know of anyone anywhere who has tried it with a side by side. Guess you could be the first, but there is no well of talent to be tapped on this. Seems impractical on the face of it unless you limit it to just a few degrees of tilt. The engineering staff at Mercedes Benz could do it. Not me or you. Do yourself a big favor and keep it simple. Judging from this forum, very few who start even simple builds actually finish. Of those, some do not look very useful.
You may know exactly what you need and how to build it. I'm just assuming you are a guy with average ability and average resources, so I could be way off base. Love to see you make it work and post progress here.
Good luck Horsehammer.

Just thinking, Assuming you successfully complete a leaning side by side, would it not feel weird riding off center, your seat rising or falling depending on whether you are in a left or right hand corner. Rather like being in a power boat, don't you think?
Tandem or single seaters that lean are built that way to allow a narrow track and minimum of frontal area for max efficiency, advantages lost with a side by side. Gonna have to have a lot of width anyway so why not just achieve your stability with a wide track. A lot more simple and with proper roll control all the cornering power you can use on the street can be achieved.
Hope I haven't butted in too heavily, If its your dream, go for it.
