Has anyone looked at Tri Pod Cars, and what do you think?

I ordered a set of plans and waiting for them to be delivered. Where are you located? I am in the USA. With the plans do you get a list of parts, spindles, brakes & rotors, steering, and all the little stuff you never think of until you need it.

I guess that means having to wear helmets and have to have an M license here in the US.

Yup.
Elio has reportedly obtained helmet exemptions in 45 US states so far. Will be following their success in that area closely. Could the chassis be modified to fit in same category as Elio? Who knows? Wearing a helmet is not a deal killer for me. If one wishes to not wear one, might I suggest a Miata?
Cheers

In Okla. nobody over 21 is required to wear a helmet for any type vehicle. Nonetheless , for a low trike like the Tri Pod with a plexi windshield made for viewing over, not through, rocks or bugs hard enough to feel like rocks can find their way to your face.
I think of a helmet as a little sanctuary for the head with wind ,noise and crash protection. A fullface helmet and balaclava keep you snug when the temps drop. They are not so attractive in summer though, and turn into a little sweat box. Got caught out once wearing a ball cap and sunglasses in a July thunderstorm. Face was bleeding from quarter size hailstone hits by the time I could reach shelter.

I like the little sanctuary thought...never left home without it.

Thanks, I'll keep that in mind. Once the afore mentioned deal is locked in, I'll have more liberty to discuss current and future plans.
Cheers,
PS NJ is only a days drive...

In Oregon there is a classification for an enclosed cab motorcycle. It does not require a helmet or an M endorsement. It is a good thing that Elio has had some success in changing some of the disparity between different states laws in regards to motorcycles. The Elio is an enclosed cab motorcycle BTW.

About the same up here in Washington. If its open, you sit ON it like a bike and has handle bars it is a trike and you must have both a motorcycle and sidecar/trike endorsement. If you sit in it like a car and it has a steeringwheel you need just a drivers license without any motorcycle/trike/sidecar endorsements.

Not even sure if a helmet would be required but I would wear one anyway. Nice, huh? Look here: www.dol.wa.gov/driverslicense/needendorsement.html

Magilla,
You should see your plans any day now. The T-shirts were on back order, so they will come a little later.
