I've had interruptions and trouble with my engine rebuild. Thought I would take a shortcut. I bought another Goldwing parts bike with a good engine. I decided to put the motorcycle back together completely and ride it around a bit before I continue with the project to test the engine out. I took it for a spin and it broke down. I think there is a fuel problem. I'll check it out tomorrow. I'm glad I took this route first. I'd hate to have to push a trike like I did the wing.

This is interesting. I am not sure of the benefits but certainly interesting. I did find out my problem was fuel related but in my tank. I got my gw running and took it on a test ride. I will be selling some parts to fund my project. It seems to be going much slower then I anticipated.

Builds always take longer than you think. I never answer the question, when will you get it done? It will get done when it gets done.

DANG! I am needing the forks for a 80 GL1100. Too bad your GL1200 ones will not fit. I need 39mm and yours are 41mm.

Nice start Ray, I'm in the Dreaming/panning stage of my RT. Going to see a sand rail frame tomorrow. Like you. I plan to move the cockpit forward so the wheelbase will no be too long. I'm using my 2002 Yamaha FZ1 as donor.
Goof luck with the build, I'll be watching.

My project has been put on hold. Sold my Goldwing but kept the parts bike. The other day I revisited the extra engine and found the problem with it. So it is ready to be put in the frame. I'll get it in this week for safekeeping. In the meantime I picked up a Honda Del Sol (94) and am giving it a facelift with fresh paint. I'll drive that around for awhile until I can get my project back on track. My wife is ill right now so most of my money has to go to get her better, then I can come back to my project, probably next year.

Just like I said to TrippleThreat, get lifes matters under control and we will see you when you can come on. You owe us nothing and we can wait. Hoping for the best for your wife and you. I do not know what I would without my "Better 3/4's" to keep me sane.

You have your priorities right Ray. We all love tinkering around with this stuff, but its trivial in the big scheme of things.
Best wishes for you and yours. TT

Hello Ray Nice build by the way.
Just a friendly Australian caution to you, after looking at your last photo and where you have your seats positioned may lead to what almost happened to me last weekend which was a near roll over.
last weekend I did the Reefton spur again on my own we had a long weekend 3 days 1st day only inner cornering wheel lifting when going pretty hard, 2nd day same, 3rd day early morning so I had the road all to myself, in my head this was my chance to see how hard I could push this machine, very early into the ride maybe 5 corners into it doing a fast l/h corner and hitting the brakes she lifted onto 2 wheels r/h/f and rear to approximately 45 degrees possible more, no steering heading straight into the mountain embankment on the wrong side of the road I released the brakes, almost sprained both wrists trying to opposite lock the steering the l/h/f floated gently back to earth after the r/h/s body made contact with the road needless to say the remainder of the ride was a fair bit slower. So to all you trike people please be careful.
I honestly don't think there is a fix for this and don't think a heavier sway bar would resolve the issue. After many hours thinking about this issue and many hours on the net, I believe it is nothing more than Physics taking over when the weight transfers in hard braked corners with only one person on board being it is a 2 seater so off centre weight with only a driver and will 'only' and 'always' roll to the drivers side of the trike and will never roll to the passengers side. The sway bar is 22mm in diameter from a car that weighs at least twice as much as the trike, the only help I can input to the trike is to adjust the front suspension every time it has only one on board. If you look at the Morgan 3 wheeler the engine is not only placed at the front of the thing for good looks it also helps with the issue I have with my 2 seater. Regards Ned

Thanks Ned. I'll keep that in mind. Not sure what to do about that problem. I'm hoping that a fiberglass body will give it enough weight to keep it down. Anyone else having this problem and how did you solve this? I'm using the vw front end so i have to sit farther back. Right now, I'm having trouble with my bulkhead. I've discovered a weakness in my design and hopefully soon I can find a solution. I'm trying to connect my motorcycle to the frame without making any changes to my motorcycle frame.
