I got a couple different rear motorcycle shocks to use for my front suspension. After I did the math, with my motion ratio, I need about an 800lb/in (14.3kg/mm) spring. I cannot seem to find a place that makes springs for my shock. I have two options, a 93 ZX6E shock, and an 05 R1 shock.
The ZX6 spring is 10.75" free length, 11mm wire diameter, and 2.125" ID. The R1 spring is 7.125" free length, 10mm WD, and 2.125" ID. All the places I called said that they do not have 2 1/8th" ID, and only in 6", 8" or 12" length. So far, I cant find one that works.
Any ideas of where I can get just what I need made? The other option is too use two rear shocks and springs on my front suspension, which will give me 840lb/in. I would rather have it done with one shock and spring per side.
Thanks!

Checking the Speedway catalog, there are a lot of 2 1/2" I.D. springs available. Could you have an adapter ring machined to mate a 2 1/2" I.D. spring to the 2 1/8" spring seat on the shock?
800 lb/in seems like a lot of spring pressure for a reverse trike. Are you using some type of bell crank arrangement on one end of the shock?
I have 225lb/in on the front of my reverse trike and would like to go lighter, maybe 175 or 150. But first I need a larger sway bar.

Yes, I have a double wishbone setup rocking a pushrod suspension with a bell crank motion ratio of 2.6:1 (given my allowable wheel travel and available shock stroke). Total weight, with driver and all fluids, is right around 1350lbs, with 62.5% being over the front wheels.
I am going to try a 6" free length, 2" ID spring and grind off a little of the inside of the spring mounts so that it will fit snug, because the shock body is 1 7/8" and will not be affected. So I believe that the 6" x 2" will work for me. Looks like 100 bucks a spring, plus another 30 for aluminum spacer to take up the 1 1/8" gap.
Thanks for the checking that out for me. I appreciate it.
