I appreciate your hard work. I can tell you didn't want to lose interest by getting on to the next stage of the build. Looking forward to seeing what it looks like with the front end on. Keep up the good work.

Ok guys, I am going to show you some quick body steps. In the above posts I created a rough structure with cardboard and packing tape. Why packing tape you ask? Fiberglass wont stick to packing tape. The next several pictures are going to be me making a fiberglass dash panel to cover the driver and passenger's legs from the sun coming in through the windshield. Use and old sheet to create a template that you will use to mark out your fiberglass cloth Mark the orientation of the cloth so that you can locate it correctly when you want to lay the fiberglass cloth down. The less you can manipulate the cloth the better Roll out your cloth to the size of your template. Notice I transferred the orientation markings to the cloth. Think ahead.

For this dash panel, I am only using 4 layers of cloth with some extra 2" bands of cloth to add structure down the middle of the piece and around the edges. Lay the cloth on your form. NO RESIN YET!!!!! Once you have it where you want it. then start brushing on your resin with a paint brush. You only want to get the cloth wet. Trick: extra resin does NOT make it extra strong. Add one layer at a time and wet it out. don't try to lay all 4 layers of cloth down and then try to wet it out. You will be sorry. You are most likely wondering about the waves in part of the dash. these are not an issue and will be taken out during refinement.

I let the part dry for several hours before I removed it and trimmed it all up. This is the part later that night sitting on the floor of my garage. This is the dry trimmed piece just sitting on the RT1.

Here is the RT1 out of the garage for the first time in a year and a half. People were breaking their necks catching a glimpse as they drove by. Notice the size in relation to my F350

I removed and send the carburetors out for a complete rebuild/ restoration. Looks like I have some cleaning to do before they come back. Yuck!

Ok so how do I put picks in a post like that?
I don't see any way to attach them in the message.
Am I missing something?
By the way it's like you are making good progress. I can never find decent deals on Craigslist like that.

How much do think your project weighs currently?
I am beginning to think what have I got myself into...........LOL.
I like a challenge so I'll have fun with it but I am really hoping to get my project rolling in a decent time frame. Say a year to a year and a half hopefully.
You have made a ton of progress from where you started and I am pretty much starting mine from scratch with the exception of the having the running bike. It's a nice looking bike and I hate to cut it up to be honest but I couldn't find a wrecked Hyabusa 1300 for a decent price. Even the wrecked ones go for 5000-6000 at auctions around here because people repair them.
I couldn't find any deals on Craigslist here in Houston either. I ended up buying the complete running bike for around 2800.00.
I'll use most of what I need off of it and sell the parts I don't on Ebay to try to recover some of my money I suppose.

I have no idea how much this thing weighs. I can promise you that I am going to be pretty upset if it is a slow pig. I am under the impression that I will be able to carry 90 on the highway without issue. maybe I should stop eating donuts immediately just to make sure.
Truth be told it is a ton of work, but well worth it. I need something like this to stretch my brain a little. I am close to being done (July 1) and it will have taken me just over a year and a half and I took a whole summer off of working on it.

Thats ingenuity.
Your getting to be a real pro at the fiberglass work. Definitely a skill I will need to learn before my task is completed.
