Hello everyone. I am new here.
I am building a Hayabusa powered RT that is the usual configuration but mostly in the shape of a streamliner.
Being 6'4'' I find it tough to buy cars so I decided to build the car around me. Since I have a spine injury I am using the most comfy seat and position that I can come up with.
Also, I am gas welding it. Yeah, that's right. I got a good deal on a Victor torch set and decided that I was going to build the entire trike using it. One big reason was that I can use it to heat and bend tubing so I can give the body the right shape that I like.
I am planning on using a fiberglass body and also air conditioning! Yup! It will be sealed using a canopy and here in Southern California it can get pretty hot while driving inland, especially in the desert. I am planning many drives.
Oh, and I also figured out how to make it tilt. Sensors and a minicomputer will take inputs and control the tilt via an electric servo motor. I have already written the code and built a small prototype of the tilt system that I mounted on a board and tested while sitting in the passenger side of my wife's lexus (the one that my knees hit the dash even with the seat all the way back). It works! It is such a great feeling to see the little motor tilting it while she drives "S" turns in a parking lot or on the street taking turns.
I'll post photos and update as I make progress. I have the bottom of the chassis done and the motor is in. I have a machine shop helping me with the swing arm mounts and the front spindles.
Ok, that's all for now. I hope to see other trikes on this board. I just registered so I'm going to look around.
Take care,
Greg
