Would be nice to know what RT you have? or what kind you are building.

Te a look at the one I built for for Bandit Project in the builds around the 5th page I believe. I used an aluminum hinge from Lowes or Home Depot. I cut the pivot part off and matched up the pieces and drilled through them to anchor them together using threaded center spacers and screws. I bushinged it with a piece of pipe and some copper tubing to allow a 5/8 rod to slip through the bushing and I used Batter cable ends to secure it to the frame. I still want to add a little extention to it to get it up a little higher but it works well. As far as the rod........I used a 1/2 inch all thread rod and covered the majority with heat shrink tube and left just the end threads exposed for a jam nut and a ball yoke you can get at hardware stores as well. I then slipped the all thread rod into a 9/16 tube and tack welded the tube to the frame as a guide for the rod and made a few bends at the back to reach the shifter. It's pretty darn secure and is easy to find nuetral. and mine is pull back for 1st gear and 4 forward to 5th gear.
Its just an idea and it worked for me and all in all cost about $40.00 I think to build it and a little time.
