I was wondering if anyone has mounted an additional Baker Transmission from a Harley to the output of the engines built in transmission.
My 2002 Suzuki Bandit 1200S has a 5 speed and I was wondering if installing a additional 6 speed baker transmission between the bikes transmission and the rear sprocket would give it a better overdrive capability.
5th gear would be like a 1:1 ratio and 6th gear would be like an additional overdrive. I would have to lock out the 1-4th gears and nuetral could still be achieved through the normal transmision. In a way it would be like having a shiftable differential I think. It would be even better if it could incorporate a reverse gear output in place of the 1-4 gearing.
Just something I have been thinking about. Right now my 5 speed goes through the gears really quick and I keep wanting to shift more and save some of that screaming RPM to conserve fuel.
Any thoughts on this idea.

all you need to do is go to a bigger front sproket or smaller rear then it wont be screaming at high rpm

You are correct but doing that will effect take off as well and I figure getting 1300 lbs + passenger moving will be a chore on the current stock gearing but maybe I am wrong. I do not plan to ever go the normal top speed of the bike which is 145 mph with 680 lbs of weight which is the stock bike and a 190 lb rider.
