Hello All,
My name is Storx and i just recently moved back to Florida after retiring from the military after 11 years of service. I have been a gear nut and biker for as long as i can remember, but due to recent injuries and surgeries my body will not take the seating position of most motorcycles anymore before im in tears from the pain, so i am attempting to get back into the motorcycle scene again by building a reverse trike to utilize the normal seating position for comfort. I am very mechanically inclined and have average welding skills on MIG and STICK, so i hope i have enough skills to build my own setup.. the toy that i tinker with now is a Self built compound turbo VW TDI diesel Jetta that i take to the drag strip and car shows to enjoy the car scene, but i miss having a motorcycle to enjoy on the nice days... so i am here to learn and build my own setup..
I was lured into the reverse trike idea after attending a motorcycle show recently with a few friends and seen a display setup for a local bike builders commercial model.. they let us take it for test rides around the parking lot and the bike was a blast to drive outside of its semi-lack of power it seemed using the 600cc motor only.. and what really blew me away was that they were asking $48,000 for the bike and people were signing up to have one built for them...
but there is another model that i have kinda taken liking to partially because of the oval length of the bike being smaller due to using a V-twin motor next to the driver due to its 8 inch width design... placing the driver just slightly offset from the center line.. the reason i like this model is because this moved the weight from 60% front/40% rear like the above trike design with everything inline to 49%/51% setup giving more traction to the rear wheel.. also they cut the length of the bike down 17 inches compared to the above setup
