I was wondering if any of you have experience with registering a RT in CA? I'm starting to look into it. It definitely is classified as a motorcycle. Where to start?

Hi Ray, I would start nosing around in this website. www.dmv.ca.gov/pubs%2Fvctop/vc/vctoc.htmSee if you can find out who and where a homemade motorcycle is inspected. Ask for a copy of the form they use to check required equipment. California DMV should be able to provide that information via a phone call. In Wisconsin it is the Wisconsin State Patrol Vehicle Inspection Division. Jim

I could have the DMV or the local police inspect it. I opted for the DMV that time so I could get it all done in one trip. The difference was that the bike was stock. They were not real picky but it was visibly intact. She was most concerned with verifying the VIN. With a rebuild it will probably be different.

I found this today about registering a home made or specially constructed vehicle. www.dmv.ca.gov/vr/spcnsreg.htm It doesn't quit fit the what I am trying to do because I already have registration for the original vehicle but it is a start. I may visit the highway patrol first because there probably won't be the long lines.
