It's early days with my build. So far I have a FZ 750 engine with all of the ancillaries to make it run, a swing arm and wheel from a ZZR 600, Ford Cortina front stub axles and hubs and a Ford Escort quick rack out of a rally car. This is what I started with as a donor I've stripped it all out and am cleaning and prepping for paint on the engine, the carbs were completely seized up but a liberal application of lube and a hammer sorted them out. I have to sort the steel and a few more parts but I'm in no rush just yet, saving for seats and lights at the moment. I have still not decided if it's having seats side by side or one behind the other. Each idea has it's pro's and it's con's. Madness gets us all in the end!

We did not get Ford Cortina's here but I drove some while stationed in Germany. If its a front drive Cortina and you will not use the drive axels, you may need to machine the axel stub down some so you can bolt it through the bearings to hold them together.
Tandem seating is easier to design. Adding width is harder to design in and makes the aerodynamics dirtier. But then adding lenght can add problems too, Clutch and throttle cables may not reach, more flex,......

The Cortina here is or was rear wheel drive so the stub axles will fit on a Locost/ Seven type double wishbone suspension.
I am seriously considering tandem seats with the drivers position low and the passenger seat slightly higher to allow leg room without needing too much space.
I can plan the roll over hoops to match and as long as i have a decent safety cage I'll be happy.
I only have an old FZ 750 engine and it's not mega powerful but as long as it cruises comfortably at motorway speeds and goes round twistys I'll be happy enough. If i get it to work the way i want i'll get a bigger power plant later down the line. I have a limited budget to build and register the trike. Function over form first and then i'll improve it as time passes.
I tend not to ride in the winter, the cold affects me really badly so I spend the time in my shed tinkering with things.

It's been a long time but my finances are finally at the point where i can progress with my build. I'll be doing a weekly update here and on FB.
Hope to be getting out next year.
I had the chance to go for a ride in the 2rike that Craven has built. What a machine, totally mental and brilliant all in one go.
