Hi All, More crappy weather here in WI. Today was the Slimey Crud motorcycle run from Pine Bluff, WI to Leland, WI and once again it lived up to its name. It happens twice a year. Couple of local bike riders started doing the ride years ago and it has grown into a monster. Last fall they had over 3,000 bikes. Very few Harleys, mostly vintage and sport bikes. I left the house at about 7:30am, it was very overcast and about 55 deg. Arrived there about 8:15 and about 9:30 the sky turned pitch black in about 5 minuets. That was my clue to head for home, was able to stay ahead of storm until about the last 10 miles and then the rain came down in buckets. I have never ridden one of my trikes in the rain and have often wondered how they would handle. Well now I know! One must be very gentle with power application. There was about 250 - 300 bikes there even on such a crappy day. Oh well, trike got washed and I did not melt so all in all not to bad a day, just not as much fun as could have been. Will have to try again in the fall. Jim www.slimeycrudrun.com/

Sorry to hear about the rainout. Bummer. Is this the same trike you took to Deals Gap?

Yes, But I have taken both of the trikes I built to The Tail of The Dragon.
Red and black trike was 2009 and white trike was 2011.
Plans in the works for 2012 road trip to Deals Gap area. This year we may skip Deals Gap area and head a little south and east by about 25 miles to try some new roads.
After doing The Tail of The Dragon four times (twice in a sports car and twice with trikes we are looking for something different. Once you do the Dragon several times in a day and buy the tee shirts it's time to head off in other directions.
Too many "crazy" drivers, bike riders and way too many state troopers. Plus a 30mph speed limit takes some of the fun out of the ride. There are many roads in the area that are just as fun as the Dragon, but with 55mph speed limits, no troopers and no traffic, but tons of fun.
