It's a little late buti will ad this to the conversation.
If you are looking for a powerful Photo editing program, one of the best is Corel's Paint Shop Pro 2018. It does take a bit to learn how to use it but it can do 90% of what Photoshop does at 10% of the cost. Today on ebay you can buy it for around $25. While i use Corel's Photo Paint8 and 9 to adjust pictures i still have 4 versions of Paint Shop Pro on my various computers. I have used PaingShopPro for many years and have most of the editions since the #4 version. I am using PSP X7 on my laptop computer when i am traveling.
I also have made up text Microsoft Office Word and PDF tutorials on how to use PSP to adjust colors, size, add text and many other things to pictures. I did this when a was on a PSP forum years ago trying to help people use it. They may need updating but i have about 40 tutorials. They are very detailed so you won't make too many mistakes and you will be able to correct the mistakes. The only problem i had on the PSP forums was with people that would not read the tutorials and then they just wanted me to fix things. I finally got tired of helping and just quit going. The admin asked me to come back, but i told him i had moved on to Corel Draw .
So try PSP, i can help you get started, and you will find you can do most anything you can think ofto do with pictures. I am not associated with Corel, i just like the software and it is inexpensive compared to other photo adjusting programs and to me works easier and better.
