The REAL problem - when we go to the bottom of it all - are 'Corporations', not individuals. Corporative executives only have one thing in mind: $$$, and the consumer, the people who will benefit of those things is of no real importance to those entities. This Principle is seen in the Food industry, the Pharmaceutical and many other fields. Sadly, they cannot be removed from our equations: like cancer, they have taken over the body already. It would have been a swell choice of vehicle.

I agree that corporations just want to make money. The way they make their money is by offering a product enough consumers want so they can make a profit on the sales. As individuals we can not expect them to spend money on something they know will flop. I think that the consumers taste has to evolve to make the product a money maker.
Some of the cars from the 80's that were hot selling cars wouldn't sell at all today. Te AMC Gremlin sold very well then turned into a car that is laughed at, the Chrysler "K" car saved that company in the late 80's and made front wheel drive cool, then was the butt of a lot of jokes.
Corporations can not exist without profit, ask Montgomery Wards, Circuit City, Saturn. They can not be there without profit and if they try and push products for social engineering people will just buy from somebody else. Making the car companies make vehicles the government wants us to drive really irks me. What ever happened to a free society.
