Just a thought in my mind about a 5 month wait for a reply(using a hammer to get excess carbon out of head!)
Yes, Dave, Many years ago a 1995 Packard bell computer(pentium 200)(huge 5 gig hard drive, LOL)crashed when the hard drive died. I lost everything i had on that hard drive. I was determined to never let that happen again. So i started coping everything to a tape system i bought. A couple of years later CD burning came on the market. So i transferred all the tapes back to the computer and started backing up to CD's. I continued with CD's until DVD burning showed up.So then i transferred a couple 100 CD's to my DVD's(58 cd's on each DVD). Finally i now have most everything i saved onto a DVD's i keep in cases in the closet. There is close to 530 gig's on the 120 DVD's i have for backup(yes, i have 2 copies of every DVD)(ate up with this backup fetish i have, EH!) I have about 40 gigs of reverse trike pic's(includes non-reverse trikes), 40 gigs more on motorcycles, and another 30 gigs on automobiles. I also keep newer photos backed up on a external hard drive and back the ext drive to dvd when it's around the 4.4 gigs to fill a dvd. Usually make around 5 new dvds every year. i keep around 10 gigs on this computer to look at when i want to(or someone is looking for certain pic's)
So when i need to find something i have to look it up on a inventory dvd i made, then find the numbered DVD and reinstall the pictures back to my computer. That's why i can still run many old programs on my newest computers. I saved every program i bought, and still run the one's that continue to work( like my Cool Edit 2000 music program).

You have the Backup OCD for sure. I backup most of my stuff to a 1.5 TB external for long term backups and a 32GB flash for quick saves. I am on a Win7 laptop and Microsoft is always trying to kill it with bad "Updates". Twice they forced my laptop over to Win10 and I had to force a back step to Win7 but lost a lot of programs.

I'm running a win 8.1 desktop, a win 8.1 toshiba laptop and a win 10 HP laptop. I do like the win 8 system better than win 10 but that will end someday. At least Win 8 is still getting updates. Microsoft put win 10 on the toshiba laptop but it was so bad, i wiped the drive and reinstalled win 8 from the Toshiba recovery dvd set i bought. I wish Linux would put out a somewhat like windows clone as i still don't like their interface. I tried a few linux builds that said they were the closest thing to windows you could use, but they were not good enough for me.
The win 10 laptop is OK, but i really don't like it. I quit using Avast's other programs on windows 10 because Avast's scripts they use causes problems. I only use the anti-Vi program. I'm using the defraggler program now and although it is slower it works much better. Doing a quick defrag everyday keeps the laptops speed good. Every week i do a full defrag. I now skip using any driver update and speedup programs since my malwarebytes program usually conflicts wit them. I do trust Malwarebytes so i'm keeping it running.

I'd pay Microsoft an annual FEE to keep getting updates for my Win 7. Or they should sell older OS's to some company that could keep the system updated for a fee.
Of all Window OS's Win 7 has been the best for me. Twice MS forced migration to Win 10 and I had to backstep due to everything not working correct on Win 10. They will force me to a Mac when this Win 7 machine gets bombed by one of their subvert "Update". I have not done an update from them because of AMD issues with some Win updates.
That said, I had a few 3.5" floppy discs with Microsoft 3.11 and 1,000's of BAS programs I help write.
