Hello to all. Wanted to say hello and introduce myself. My name is Eddie. I live in Atlanta GA. I have been a long time bike rider and have built a couple bike in my time of riding. But now I'm wanting to try something new. Been looking around the form and checking out people's builds. Have to say they look great. Some more so then others. But that's ok. We all build what we want and love. I would love to say I will post a lot of thing or comment on post I read. But really I don't do a lot of that. But I will say if I have something where I feel like I can help or offer a suggestion I will gladly do so. And in time when/if I do start a build on a reverse trike I WILL post a thread.
I have a bike that I was hoping to sell to use the money to put to the build. But it's not a easy sell bike. So I'm thinking of using it to build the reverse trike.
But I was hoping I could get pushed in the right direction. Wanted to see what others there is out there now before I tried to build my own frame. Is there anywhere to find some kind of drawing or plans to build a frames for a reverse trike? Well thanks. And will be looking forward to talking with you'll.

There are a lot of different trikes out there. What motorcycle donor are you thinking about using if you don't sell it? The most common engine is a sport bike like a Kawasaki KZ1 or Yamamha R1. Anything from a 250cc to huge V8 power can be fit in a trike if you have the time and resources. There are a few members on here that will sell you a kit too. Dove Racing has a Kit for the R1 called t R1ke for about $7700+ but everything is already thought out for you. They can modify the frame to accept a Suzuki GSXR1300 "Busa" engine too. So check Doves web site www.doveracing.net/cars/sve-tr1keA few members on here will allow you to copy their design if you play nice and do not hold them responsible for any crashes. No trike on the market has been crash tested that I know so it is RIDE AT YOUR ONE RISK thing.

Welcome Eddie from Florida. I used to live in College Park many years ago. I have a JZR reverse trike with Honda CX650 power. It is built from a kit out of England. There is a gentleman in the Atlanta area currently building a JZR, but I can't remember his name. If you go on the JZR forum, you should be able to find him. I think he would be glad to discuss his project with you. Good luck in your build.

I always play nice and never would expect someone to take responsible for something I build. I know no matter what I do build I have to build it to be a safe vehicle. I will check out the DoverRacing. But to tell the true I'm not looking to put that kind of money out so fast on a project. Thank again for the info.

I'm thinking later when I have built my first reverse trike I will maybe use something like a GoldWing eng with a reverse drive. But that would be much later.

With the Bandit 1200 being Air/oil cooled you will need to incorporate some air scoops to get air around the fins. This is why most trikes use a water cooled engine. But with ducting and a larger oil cooler placed in air flow you should do well. All the other stuff will work its self out. One point I try to make is stock clutches on sport bikes. They are designed for a LIGHT bike and rider. You will be adding a few more pounds (250 or more added) so look to see if there are any heaver springs for the clutch from a different model. If you design the clutch peddle right you will not notice HEAVY springs as much. Basically, there are no stupid questions, sometimes there are stupid answers but.... So if you need to find an answer or conformation on something, just ask. This forum is a bit slower at times, some member only visit once a week. Your questions answer may not come right away.

Thanks Dave. Did not think bout the clutch. But it is something to keep in mind. Not really sure now soon I will get this thing started since I don't really have any plans yet. But in time I hope to get it started. I was going to muck up a frame using PVC Pipe. So there for I can have a idea of what it will look like before I build it. This is going to be a LONG project.

Some builders have used wood, PVC and even copper tubing to mock up.
But by all means, get a good idea of where to start, collect parts, buy equipment and get started when ready.
I do not have a Trike yet. I now have a set of Goldwing plans that I can modify to work with one of my Suzuki Burgman 650 scooters, thanks to member JakeZ.
I thought I had a set of Indytrike plans but can not find them. The Indytrike is a nice trike.

This is how i got the design of my 2rike sorted out at the beginning of the project i made 1:10 scale model using 4mm steel rod to represent the 40mm tube on the finished item and a tenth scale toy model of the R1 bike i wanted to use its great to work out the scale and shape without wasting loads of material
