Hello Everyone! I am planning to make a single seat enclosed reverse trike for daily work commute. Looking to start with a lighter build using 140cc Piranha Pit bike engine (ordered from tboltusa.com) and probably later use a Ninja 250+ engine for a bigger build. I have very little experience with gas vehicles except building a 49cc a motorized bicycle using an ebay engine kit and a 26" Kent Oakwood Cruiser bike. My Requirements:- Low Cost ($470 Spent so far - Piranha 140cc Engine + harness, clutch cables )
- Speed 50MPH +
- Single Seater Enclosed (It rains most days here)
Frame material - Not too heavy , stable at 50+MPH) Welder - 110V Harbor Freight 90A? Wheels - Pit bike wheels with on road tires? Where can I get cheap ones? I would really appreciate if someone help me choose the materials. Thanks you!

The advice I would give is make it as light as possible and make every component in the build justify being on the finished RT. look at how its put together and use the minimum number of parts Cold draw seamless tube 1.5 inch diameter x 1/16 wall section is incredibly strong for frame construction

Ambition is a good start, check licensing requirements in your state. Sometimes its easier to begin with an inexpensive 3 wheel scooter that's already street legal and chop it with modifications to your preference. I have seen 150cc trikes on Craigslist for under $1500. Safty should always be paramount in any modification or build criteria. I modified some factory made "Scoote Coupes" with larger 150cc motors raising there crusing speed to 50mph from 35. They were far less stable at higher than designed speeds. Good luck with your project!

bharathi, where in Oregon you at? There are a few builds from down your way. I would maybe stop at your local state trooper vehicle inspection station that does out of state inspections and ask questions of the trooper.

I would maybe stop at your local state trooper vehicle inspection station that does out of state inspections and ask questions of the trooper. Easy to title in Oregon. Keep receipts of major components. Go to DMV and apply for title for a constructed motorcycle. They will ask for the receipts and send everything to Salem for review. About 5-6 weeks later you will receive a letter in the mail to go to a local DMV where they will apply a state assigned VIN number to your chassis. No inspection required.

Thanks mtntech. Yes, the DMV here is pretty cool with custom vehicles I believe. I registered my motorized Bike this January;took 15 minutes flat.
@davej98092 Just starting to gain traction. Recently ordered a new 200cc lifan engine and I will be getting it in a week from now. Can you suggest light weight front end options for a single seater 200cc reverse trike? I am totally confused about from A-Arms, spindles, hubs and wheels and disc brakes. Any help will be deeply appreciated. Thanks a ton!
