Some here may have noticed that the Mtntech build thread is no longer on the design build forum. Peter (the thread starter) has asked me to remove the thread because someone has raised a Patent complaint on the thread. So the thread has been removed.

We are all the poorer for it. Although I have doubts about the basic concept being able to get power to the ground during aggressive cornering, the thread was very interesting to follow as a good example of original thinking and great workmanship. We don't get enough builds posted anyway, hate to loose one of the better presented ones. Hope Mtntech doesn't quit the forum in disgust.
I have a feeling that my thread on side-stick steering was cancelled for the same reason, though I was not extended the courtesy of being given a reason as you have here SRX. Thanks for that anyway.
Apparently, any smuck that thinks he invented something, even if that concept has been floating around the public for years, can rain on our parade.
However, I do appreciate the need for the administration to be cautious in these matters. Its the world we live in.
It would be interesting to find out specifically what the real or imagined infringement was.

It must have been the original admin that deleted the side steer thread. I would not delete a thread unless the thread starter said it was OK. I don't know if Peter had received a patent cease and desist letter, and he is just being safe about it. I have no other info other than he asked me to delete the thread. SRX660

This raises an interesting point. If we have a "Eureka!" moment or otherwise break new ground, could we be infringing on someone's patent? Companies have been allowed to patent or trademark some really squirrely stuff, such as on-screen button shapes, colors, and font styles. On the other hand, patent trolls have apparently created a new industry: Patent trolls are stifling innovation. Using overbroad patents based on dated technology, trolls threaten litigation and bring infringement suits against inventors. Trolls, also known as Non-Practicing Entities (“NPEs”), typically do not produce products or services, but are in the business of litigation. They lie in wait for someone to create a process or product that has some relationship to the patent held by the troll, and then they pounce with threats and lawsuits. The cost to the economy is staggering.www.independent.org/store/book.asp?id=110&s=ga&gclid=CODXqu2Ai78CFUwV7AodvXcARAThere's more: State Street Bank & Trust Co. v. Signature Financial Group Inc... In that case, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit held methods of doing business to be eligible subject matter for patenting. The patentability of business methods meant that a corporation's continued use of trade secret business strategies could infringe a patent held by a later inventor.www.finnegan.com/resources/articles/articlesdetail.aspx?news=45f2d5a9-1005-4466-afac-2078abeaa1e0You can actually patent a method of doing business! This may explain why fast food chains have stopped washing their tables. We live in a weird world (posted the guy on the Forum for Builders of Home-Made Three-Wheel Cars).

Well, now, isn't THAT cuter than hell! How twitchy is it? (I ask because in my youth I once sneezed while gripping the 10" steering wheel I'd installed in my Bugeye Sprite.) It would actually be very comfortable to drive. It's much like the steering mechanism on my favorite boat:

Not twitchy at all below 110, somewhat above. Here is the reverse trike I aspire to. Sadly, never built, just a computer rendering. The quality of the cad is very impressive too. [/URL]

Just have to lay low for awhile, for reasons I won't get into now. The build continues to move forward, and is being driven now, albeit off public roads.
