Just wondering if anyone can send me plans, drawings or ideas on the best way to attach a motorcycle frame to my chassis using the headstock as one attachment point? I don't mean the only attachment point. When we are building from scratch, sometimes it is hard to get everything right or the best way ourselves?!

Can you take out the bearing races? I would guess a simple bolt and washer type setup, with tabs going above and below the headstock.

The welding isn't finished but I turned down a piece of thick walled DOM to fit inside the neck tube and just big enough for the bolt to go through. I used a 3/4" grade 8 bolt.

This is how I have mounted the Bike frame in to the back of the 2rike. The boss locates in the bottom bearing mount of the bike head stock and with another boss in the top bearing housing and then a bolt through the middle Attachment Deleted Attachments:

Thanks for that. I need a way to attach the whole motorcycle frame un modified to my chassis for UK laws to avoid single vehicle approval.

Thanks for that. I need a way to attach the whole motorcycle frame un modified to my chassis for UK laws to avoid single vehicle approval. I am using the complete bike except for the front forks and wheel but I still expect to have to go through the MSVA (UK) Test before I can get it on the road. Someone I was talking to said that if the seating is one behind the other like on the bike it may not need a msva? If that was true I could try and claim that you can sit behind the driver on the bike seat and save a lot of worry about the test? Attachment Deleted

That is not true, in order to avoid the MSVA test, a bike has to be used with an unmodified frame, engine and transmission, it has to be able to convert back to a motorcycle. So basically all you can do to a bike is take the front wheel and forks off, seat frame and fuel tank. if you are doing what you say then you do not need the test but it is well worth using the guidelines for the test as they are for safety. I have the documents saved so just message me and I will send you them.

Its to late, I have got my 2rike booked in for the MSVA test on the 21 April at Beverley, I did show it to a MOT station that does trike MOT's and they said I could try just putting it in for a standard trike MOT and then sending it of with a letter and pictures to the DVLA for the log book to be amended and then just see at worse they may ask for it to be put in MSVA! after all So because I hope to make some more I thought it best just to put it straight in for the MSVA. and I can have it checked out for my own piece of mind.

So how how did it go today dude? I was very nervous going to the test, but having done it now I would not worry about it next time , It was just like a very thorough MOT but the inspector just made lots of notes and checked on tyre ratings and that the lamps had "E" marks and that the suspension Bolts had HT marks on them. all the detail really I came away thinking it was firm but fair test and that the 2rike had been checked properly in detail so it was worth it for piece of mind alone!
