heres some school of hard knocks advice im like a 26th year senior, build a skid plate so when your dad hits some concrete it doesn't smash your 1000 dollar header on your exhaust. use lock nuts , on your body bolts , if not they vibrate loose . get lots of air to the radiator , or move it so you can get some air flow , add a heavier spring to gas pedal so it doesn't push too easy , when you use a old beetle axle and put new ball joints in get new tie rod ends too they are only 43.00 on ebay new , that way it doesn't walk around when u hit a rut in the road , glue the glass in the frame , don't try to make it come out to easy , it just cracks, when working with sheet metal wear jeans , glove etc , other wise a piece of sheet metal will jump off the back before you weld it on and slice the back of your leg and you will have to get 7 stitches in your calf. I have lots of pics but the add attachment button not working , for now my dad has the trike (he is retired) I have it far enough along where he can drive it test it etc then we can finish some more body panels ,my mom said he was racing around like a 16 year old when he smashed the header!!! lol

if I can think it I can build it I STRETCHED NYLON FABRIC 1.50 PER YARD FROM WALLMART OVER THE BACK , HOT GLUED IT DOWN , BRUSHED IT WITH FIBER GLASS RESIN . ONCE IT GOT HARD , I ADDED SOME LAYERS OF FIBERLASS CLOTH.

TRIMMED IT DOWN TO WHERE I WANTED IT , NOT ALL THE WAY TO THE TOP!! BUT WAS NECESSARY TO GET CLOTH STRETCHED , AND COATED WITH FIBERGLASS. CARBON AND FIBER = CARBON FIBER FIBER AND GLASS = FIBER GLASS THEN WHAT DOES NYLON AKA PANTY HOSE MATERIAL AND FIBER GLASS = PANTYGLASS

MADE THE PACKAGE SHELF AREA OUT OF METAL , RIVETED A STRIP OF TIN OVER THE FIBERGLASS ATTACHED TO THE EDGE OF THE PACKAGE SHELF THEN WENT OVER IT WITH MORE FIBER GLASS . ANY ONE WHO SAYS WORKING WITH FIBERGLASS IS FUN AND EASY IS LYING , ITS MESSY , STICKS TO EVERY THING, I THOUGHT I DONT NEED GLOVES ILL BE CAREFULL, WELL NOT TRUE , WEAR GLOVES!! IT SETS UP PRETTY QUICK AND YOU NEED TO BRUSH IT ON BEFORE IT SETS UP ,SOME MIGHT SAY USE LESS CATYLIST SURE , THEN YOU RISK NOT ENOUGH AND ITS STICKY FOR 2 DAYS TILL THE SUN COMES OUT AND STARTS THE CHEMICAL REACTION

MY DAD TOOK IT ON A 100MILE DRIVE , NEEDS MORE AIR DUCTS , HES MOVING THE RADIATOR AWAY FROM THE HEADERS , ADDING AIR SCOOPS , WE WILL ADD COLD AIR DUCTS TO THE AIR INTAKE PORTS ON THE BIKE SO IT GETS CLEAN COLD AIR , AT 50MPH THIS THING GOT 49MILES PER GALLON , GOES FROM 0-50 IN THE SNAP OF A FINGER, WE ARE ADDING NEW TIRE ROD ENDS INNER AND OUTER , ADDING CASTER TO THE FRONT AXLE ---2 BOLTS AND SPACERS GET SOME MORE TILT ON THE AXLE SHOULD CURE THE BUMP STEER AND CRAWLING AROUND ON THE ROAD WHEN WE HIT A BUMP. IT DROVE NICE AND STRAIGHT TILL YOU HIT A BUMP(CASTER ISSUE) OR A RUT IN THE ROAD TIE ROD ISSUE.

this is my 1st reverse trike , i'm having a blast building it , the next one will be easier and prob different , as this is for my dad , keeping in mind it's 180 horse, thinking safety too. like I have said before , I looked at other projects for months before I started. yes its fun to look at a reverse trike design that some one posted on a thread. but that's a design, this is a trike that you can build in your garage at home with little farming it out, if you don't want to spend 50k on a t rex then you might enjoy my trials errors , success. most people don't detail tell you anything other than heres my trike

the rear car tire made a world of difference!!! here is what fits on a 2008 hayabusa!!! Yokohama S-Drive auto tire 195-45-R17 145.00 mounted and balanced!!! with a cycle tire on rear and radials on front , when you drove on black top it reminded me of one time on my 73 cuda I put some cool bias ply meats on the back , I had radials on the front . felt like it was going to throw me in the ditch!!! when driving on black top. now with the radial car tire on the rear , it drives!! awesome!!

With a non tilting vehicle, car tires are the only way to go!

Is there any problems slipping the clutch to take off? Do you have to rev it quite a bit or can you just pull away easily? I have wondered about the torque on the Hayabusa with a heavier vehicle.

Scot, nice. I have been playing with car tires on bikes for some time and the grip is so much better than a round profile motorcycle tire. I am currently running a Bias ply up front and a 155/65 HR 14 Car radial on the rear of my 650 Burgman. I ride in rain and my wet grip is excellent. I have over 75,000 miles on car tires on the rear of a Suzuki Burgman 650.

dave thanks for the post , the more info the better so that others can do it right the 1st time by our experimentation. my dad has done a lot more riding if he runs it hard 80mph for a bit starts to warm up , the air isn't flowing through it like we want it must be swirling in the back area and not flowing through. so he cut some more air holes in it, if you drive it nice it will run cool 65mph range. wind tunnel sure would be fun to have.

the beetle front axle has more travel then I had planned for , I did my set up like a trailer fender 3 inches above the tire to fender .(not enough) so when I drove it the tires rubbed during braking (the front end dives down ) easy fix 100.00 for a pair . the shocks fixed the problem
