Hello everyone, I think it's time for one of these forums to take off and really become the central resource for reverse trike builds/info. Will this be the one? No disrespect to other sites but I think this is a better format for sharing information. I'm currently in the middle of a reverse trike build. I have information in a couple different locations but I guess the most direct one is the following site, it was created mostly to share progress with family so the trike name is a bit of a joke and alittle less on the technical side: home.ptd.net/~bdwyke/trike.htmlThere are links to other sites that have some more info, mainly the link to the Locost forum where I also have a build log. That site is an amazing resource if your thinking of building a car/trike from scratch. Dan

In my countless hours obsessively looking for RT projects, I stumbled upon your build one night. It looks like you are taking the time to build a really nice RT!
Do you have any current pics that are taken from further away so we can see the whole RT as it is right now?

Thanks, I'll try and get a current picture of everything but it's a little difficult considering the amount of tools/parts/crap piled in and around it. Hopefully over the holidays I get some time in the garage to get some work done and get better pictures.

3verse, Just updating some pictures and thought I'd get that picture from further away for you. I managed to get some quality time in the garage while I was off work for the holidays so I'm making some progress. It's actually starting to look like something...

That is one clean RT build you have going on their danwyke ;D
I do appreciate your efforts and the amount of time you have involved in your build...as I myself hand built a a sand rail from the ground up...a lot of planning and designing...the advantage you have over me is that CAD system you have access to.
Great job!

Hey everyone, I just thought I would throw a note up that I updated my website again with more pictures. The rear swing arm is mostly done so you can get a better idea of how it will look...

Hello All,
Not sure of the activity level on here at this point. I personally have not been spending as much time on-line. Just wanted to throw a note up that the website link in the original post is no longer available. I've recently moved so the trike and everything that goes along with it (website) are on hold. I'm not giving up by any means, I hope to be building again at my snails pace soon....

As long as i am the admin to this site it will always be up and running. Yes, it is a slow site since many that come here do not want to contribute. So, i do what i can to make it interesting.
I have been watching your build for a while now. I try to get permissions for the authors of other sites but many do not reply so i usually just post pics and see if anyone complains. I will then remove the pics. I guess that is why a did not ask you. I, too, like your work, but out of respect did not post any pics.
I would really like to get into the more technical aspects of building a trike. I think if everyone had access to the details of where to buy, what to look for, and what parts work with other parts, would be invaluable to many who seek to build a trike. I hope that someday there will be more trikes than cars on the streets.

Sorry Triplethreat, just saw your post, the suspension is all custom made. The coil-overs are from a Hyabusa. The steering rack is out of an older porsche 911.

Thanks. Once it's far enough to drive, I'll do a walk around with the video. The wiring and controls are still too much of a mess.

Hey, my wiring was a mess for years, this stuff has to evolve as you see the requirements changing. I wonna see that steering arrangement . Best I can tell, from the older frame shots,(I may be way off here) It looks like my old steering with the r&p behind the feet, and a single u-joint just behind the wheel attached to a shaft straight into it. Gets the driver well forward for good weight distribution. Unfortunately, I used a sloppy buggy unit that had to be abandoned. How is it a 911 had a central pinion? Just askin.
Glad you are still after this. I think most guys don't realize this can be a multi-year commitment and so get discouraged and quit.

Your right on the steering configuration. The u-joint is a double joint to be able to get more angle out of it. Unfortunitly with the rubber element on the pinion of the steering rack, allows the bottom shaft to move quite a bit when turning. I'm not real happy with it that way. I'll likely either swap out the rubber element with an aluminum block (at the expense of vibration damping) or make a bearing to hold the lower shaft in place.
I think the 911 had a center pinion to make it easier to build left & right hand drive cars. They could use the same rack in both configurations...but I could be wrong.
Definitly a multi-year process!! 5+ and counting. Hoping to have it registered this year. "finished", who knows when...
